The Durable Restoration Company performed granite repair on the historic Hurff A. Saunders Building in Juneau, Alaska.
Our scope of work included removing/salvaging the roof system in its entirety, rebuilding the south masonry wall at the roof line, and rebuilding the interior masonry walls at the door openings.
We undertook slate roof repair, stone façade repair, and exterior carpentry repair, doing our part to transform historic Grosvenor Mansion into Hope Connections.
We undertook spot pointing with lime mortar in deteriorated areas, repairing the copper gutter system to ensure a watertight exterior, stained glass repair, and repairing the plaster on the inside that was damaged due to water intrusion from the gutter.
Failed stucco was restored back to sound stucco and damaged clay bricks were removed and replaced with salvaged replacements. New downspouts were installed to direct water past the outer wall.
We restored elements of the roof, the exterior envelope and front porch, windows and doors, as well as the first floor's Council Chambers and dining room.
THE ATHENAEUM OF OHIO
Durable Restoration used granite stones to repair to match the same pattern that was used in 1851 to construct the exterior walls of the seminary building.
JEAN LAFITTE NATIONAL PARK & PRESERVE
Our historic masons removed the displaced brick and mortar that was over the center arch and replaced it with salvaged brick and applied matching mortar within the mortar joints.
MARSHALL ARCH
Our crews completed structural stabilization of the arch and wood replacement to the water-damaged area, connected to one of the concrete columns.
STRUCTURAL STABILIZATION
Durable Restoration's masons rebuilt decorative elements of this 1890s courthouse.
