Category: Historic Plaster

The Octagon House has been designated as a National Historic Landmark and is considered one of the most important historic buildings in Washington.
Besides historic plaster work on the Cloister Sanctuary and Little Chapel, The Durable Restoration Company restored the cemetery's magnificent mahogany doors. The Battery Jameson's undercarriage and the Liberty Bell's headworks were both historically replicated and replaced.
We undertook spot pointing with lime mortar in deteriorated areas, repairing the copper gutter system to ensure a watertight exterior, stained glass repair, and repairing the plaster on the inside that was damaged due to water intrusion from the gutter.
Failed stucco was restored back to sound stucco and damaged clay bricks were removed and replaced with salvaged replacements. New downspouts were installed to direct water past the outer wall.
We restored elements of the roof, the exterior envelope and front porch, windows and doors, as well as the first floor's Council Chambers and dining room.
KELLER RESIDENCE
For the Keller residence, our work included building a new second story addition for the master suite and building a new turret in front of the house.
BISHOP’S TABLE
For this project, our team restored a former historic restaurant for it to be converted into a residence.
PORCHER HOUSE
With the help of state grants and city funding, we were able to perform a multitude of renovations including installing a new roof, restoring the wood windows and trim, and installing a new chandelier.
CURCI HOUSE
Our crews completed an extensive amount of work to the Curci House. Our work here included structural stabilization, masonry restoration, and interior rehabilitation.
