The Durable Restoration Company replaced all failing metal in the dome, which had reached the end of its functional lifespan.
Preservation efforts included replacing the cedar shake roof with an in-kind replacement; repairing and preserving the upper floor windows, trim, and dormers; and, finally, repairing and resetting the upper belltower.
Besides historic plaster work on the Cloister Sanctuary and Little Chapel, The Durable Restoration Company restored the cemetery's magnificent mahogany doors. The Battery Jameson's undercarriage and the Liberty Bell's headworks were both historically replicated and replaced.
The Stifel Fine Arts Center received a new repaired Ludowici clay-tile roof from The Durable Slate Company, as well as masonry restoration along the parapet wall and underneath the cornice.
The restoration of St. Francis Xavier Church included extensive repointing and stone patching, copper-work, and box gutters.
The Durable Restoration and Slate Companies re-set the church's iconic cross and performed slate roof repair.
Our scope of work included removing/salvaging the roof system in its entirety, rebuilding the south masonry wall at the roof line, and rebuilding the interior masonry walls at the door openings.
We undertook slate roof repair, stone façade repair, and exterior carpentry repair, doing our part to transform historic Grosvenor Mansion into Hope Connections.
We undertook spot pointing with lime mortar in deteriorated areas, repairing the copper gutter system to ensure a watertight exterior, stained glass repair, and repairing the plaster on the inside that was damaged due to water intrusion from the gutter.
We restored elements of the roof, the exterior envelope and front porch, windows and doors, as well as the first floor's Council Chambers and dining room.
